Help -> Youth school

Your Youth School level determines the number of players that are coming and their initial training.

The quality and potential values of the players you see in your Youth School (YS) are usually just automatic estimations from your Scouting Department (SD) and need to be scouted manualy to get more precise values.
To do so, just click on the bracketed interval right next to the estimated value, enter your guess and this will narrow down the interval. You can repeat this until you are satisfied with the achieved precision.

You have only limited free scouting attempts per week, if you need more, you have to increase your SD level. Keep in mind though, that you don't have to use all of your scouting attempts each week. You won't lose them if you let them accumulate over the season.

You can promote 16 year old youths into your senior team, but be careful, their potential will drop by one level and they cannot play games until they turn 17. On the plus side, their loyalty will be one level higher. To be able to promote them, you have to scout them to a great degree.

Players who reach the age of 20 and are still in the YS, will automatically go to the hockey retirement.

Hockey Arena draft

Every last Saturday of the season, there will be a Hockey Arena player draft. This gives you an opportunity to 'Draft' one youth into your franchise every season!

There will be 32 draft prospects to choose from in every league, at the end of the season you can get one of them.

During the season, you can review and scout the draft picks, and prioritize them from day 1 through the last Wednesday of the season (day 67). You can scout the draft choices ahead of time during the season, but keep in mind that your scouting 'missions' are shared between your normal youth school and this draft.

You have to pick at least one player to be able to get a player at all, and you have to pick 16 players to be SURE to get one. It is recommended to always choose 16 players and sort them by their value, or what you think their value is.

Then, at the end of the following season update, this draft will be executed automatically, and the player you win (based on your draft position and priority list) will get moved to your YS.

After the draft deadline, every team is assigned a draft score. This score is calculated from the overall 'value' of players who have been promoted from youth school in the last 210 days - and have not yet retired, and from the total number of players 'pulled' from youth school in the last 70 days.
Higher value of players means lower team's position in the draft, higher number of pulled players means higher team's position in the draft.
This overall 'value' of a player is based on his quality, potential and age at the moment of his promotion. So if you promote a 95Q, 71P, 18 year old, it'll affect your score less than pulling the same 95Q player with 94P and/or at age 17.
